Hey guys. I thought of conducting a poll of sorts, to help us get to know each other, and to help other people get to know us, of our skill sets and interests. If everyone cold post a brief description of what they do, and what they are good at? I will start.

I do mostly PHP/MySQL Programming, in conjunction with web development. This is my forte'. I do design work for websites as well, but am not as good at that, although I love doing flash work.
My friend August is a flash master, and gets me most of my work. His site is: www.gilgesmedia.com.

I also got into security and encryption a while back (I have a large math background) and ended up building several encryption applications that I sell on my website:
www.nullrun.com.

During that process I learned Visual Basic, and am writing my fourth encryption app using Visual Basic for the GUI's and ActiveX for the algorithms.

Anyway, I think that's about it. Now it's your turn! Peace.

Ok... well I'm more of a novice...

I focus mainly on PHP/MySQL on a Windows Environment. My job requires me to do design and graphics work as well, however I'm not great at that (untill I find great photos of people in the Office... then I'm the king of Photoshop). I also do support, and helpdesk-like work.

I work in the Education Sector, for a company called Solent Educational (a.k.a Applemore College), but also look out for any small freelance projects around.

I'm also interested in Skateing... if thats of any relivance..

I have done mainly design with Dreamweaver-Fireworks but am moving into database driven websites. Although I started database work with Asp-Interbase I am making PHP-MySQL my first choice from now.

I work from home and my customers are mainly small businesses in the Sussex UK area.

For the last 8 months, i have been doing PHP programming for a small private universit here in Milwaukee, WI. I've been developing an intranet suite for them (Calendaring, messaging, discussions, document library, journaling, CMS, resource monitoring, helpdesk support)
Technology: PHP, MSSQL, Active Directory.

Before that i worked for a non-profit, doing similar work, but used the cheaper/free stuff. Also mentored/trained 10 high school students. This was a ton of fun, but the $$ just weren't there.

I have been working on a site for me and a few friends (www.bytemarklabs.com). Just a place to post stuff we've written (poems, papers, programs), and stuff we've created (graphics, applications). Some time over the next few months, i'll finish this and begin work on what i think is a pretty cool project.

I want to put together a community site for young (13-18) programmers. There are a bunch of people in this age range that are interested in programming, but do not know where to start. I'd like to hook these guys up with profesionals who are willing to provide a little guidance/assistance. Once the site is up, i can contact the Computer Science people from the public schools and, hopefully, the will be willing to direct some of their more promising programmers/designers to the site.

I've seen some of the WORST programming, and the WORST graphics work while reviewing my students work, but i have also seen kids dive into a problem and come up with suprisingly professional results. Kids are amazing creatures who often know more and are more capable than we think.

man, that was longer than i expected. if any of you guys would be interested in working on this project with me, please let me know. If you think you might want to sign up to work with one of these kids (strictly on-line) also let me know.

later.

I specialize in PHP/MySQL development, from the basic project concept to the coding and post-publication support. I've worked in a some web-studios on a regular basis but now I'm a freelancer. Also I have a good knowledge of dynamic HTML (especially IE-related) and related technologies (JScript etc).
I've worked on different kinds of projects. Among them is a market monitoring project (http://market.3dnews.ru, PHP+MySQL), worktime reservation system (intranet, Novell +LDAP+Linux Squid+PHP/MySQL as a web-UI), lot of a not very hard business-customers presentation pages. At a current time I'm working for a foreign customers, developing on-demand services for a mobile phones.
I have some practice as a teacher but... no, no more - that's not for me 8))
As for my science background - I'm finishing a physics-technical faculty of Altai State University, section of Information Systems And Technologies. Also I'm working as a system/network administrator in a big school on a permanent basis.
